Iwona Her is an attorney-at-law admitted to practice in Poland, a partner in the corporate department of Rymarz Zdort Maruta and the head of the antitrust and competition law practice.

Experience and education:

A specialist in antitrust, M&A and corporate law, Iwona has significant experience in Polish and European Union competition law matters, including in respect of merger control proceedings, cartels or abuses of dominance, and consumer protection. She has also advised on distribution agreements, co-operation agreements, joint ventures and state aid. Iwona advises companies from various sectors, such as the financial, fuels, chemicals, energy & gas, telecommunication, transportation, FMCG, heavy industry (steel and coal), and real property sectors. 
 
She graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw in 2001, also completing, with distinction, a course in English and European law organised by the British Centre for English and European Legal Studies at the University of Warsaw in co-operation with the University of Cambridge, and qualified as an attorney-at-law in 2008.
 
In 2012, based on a recommendation from the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Iwona became a non-governmental advisor to the International Competition Network, an association of competition agencies from all over the world devoted exclusively to competition law enforcement. 

Awards and rankings:

The prestigious legal ranking publication Chambers & Partners has since 2013 ranked Iwona as one of the best specialists in Poland for competition/antitrust. According to recent reports, Iwona Her enjoys a strong reputation in the market for her experience in merger control. She often assists high-profile clients with court proceedings in Poland and the EU. She also handles abuse of dominance and merger clearance matters. One client mentions that she is “very responsive and quick.” “She knows how to combine clients’ expectations with clients’ goals,” says another interviewee.

Another prestigious legal ranking publication, The Legal 500, has since 2016 recommended Iwona for competition/antitrust. In the 2018 edition of another publication, IFLR1000, Iwona was recommended as a “Notable Practitioner”, and since 2019 she has been singled out as one of a select few “Highly Regarded” lawyers for M&A.
