Michał Burek is a restructuring advisor, a trainee attorney-at-law, an associate in the corporate department and a member of the insolvency and restructuring practice of Rymarz Zdort.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University in 2016 as well as from the Faculty of Management and Social Communication of the Jagiellonian University in 2015. He completed the School of German Law organised by the Jagiellonian University in cooperation with Heidelberg University and Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in 2016. Michał obtained an LL.M. degree at Heidelberg University, where he was on a scholarship funded by Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst. He is currently doing PhD studies at Heidelberg University in the field of Insolvency and Restructuring, with a special focus on smart contracts and blockchain technology. Michał passed the restructuring advisor exam in 2021. Prior to joining Rymarz Zdort, formerly known as Weil, Gotshal & Manges – Pawel Rymarz sp.k., in 2020, he worked for boutique insolvency & restructuring law firms as well as for international law firms in Hamburg, Kraków and Berlin.
A specialist in corporate, and restructuring and insolvency law, he has worked on distressed M&A transactions, restructuring projects involving state-owned and public companies, and legal due diligence investigations.
